Wheelchair-accessible entrance
This monument is in tribute to Alois Jirásek, a Czech patriot and author who wrote of historical novels and plays as part of the Czech National Revival. Jirasek was a 4 time nominee for a Nobel Prize in literature, although he never won. The monument is a bronze sculpture of a seated Jirasek as an elderly man. He is staring straight ahead, coincidentally at the dancing house opposite. On his right lap is an open book and his right hand is hovering over it.

Good to visit after dark as the Gaudi-esque building near the statue brings the area to life.
