Nice cold beer, cheap camping

A few nights ago I fell asleep to a veritable cacophony. As I lay on my back, my sweat-lined sleeping bag sticking to my knee (swollen with tendonitis) & overinflated travel pillow redistributing humidity collected from the stale tent air directly to my face, I was struck by how truly novel the arrangement of noise washing over me was. Nestled in the valley of the Elbe river and slotted between two noisy railtracks, Cyklokemp Shipyard was an apropos venue for this multicultural symphony: 1. A beer tent of rural Czech soccer-volleyballers ironically tooted 3rd grade recorders along to a-ha's "Take on Me" - a smash hit that transcends linguistic and geographical barriers 2. A horde of German youths, being chaperoned by only-slightly-older German youths, celebrated a days ride on their extended bike-packing trip by chattering across their tents about school, memes, & who likes who (probably) 3. A bunch of Bohemian hooligans rallied around some soccer song which, to my ear, sounded like a sampling of geese honks echoing off river-side cliffs and played back at 0.25x speed. Rather disorienting Briefly, I contemplated rummaging through the tent pockets to locate my phone and create a field recording for future use--but, having reintroduced alcohol into my system for the first time in weeks (via a pair of cheapish beers at the Cyklokemp's bar), I decided to forego any unecessary movement. In all, a special experience.

Being sat by the river was lovely and surprisingly - no midges ! Basic setup but it does the job!

On the first night, I noticed a bad smell. It was garbage piled up high in the top corner. In the morning it was collected. On the second night, I noticed a different smell, of sewage. I decided to move my tent as far away from here as possible. When setting up the tent I was shouted at by the hostel owner because it was too close to the tennis court. In the three days I stayed here, no one played tennis. Even in the new location I could smell sewage. And then, when you are trying to sleep there is on train line a few metres away behind you and one across the river. The trains run all night and frequently. They offer pizza and panini but are rarely available for purchase. The staff were friendly and helpful but the owner was not. It is more expensive than a campsite near to the marina, and the atmosphere is not as nice. I would strongly recommend finding the campsite closer to Litomerice, by the marina.

We were robbed directly out of our tent while we were sleeping at this campsite. Also it was not kept clean. Do not stay here!!

would not recommend. it's Squeezed in between two railways (so very loud at night.. i could barely sleep), super basic sanitary, very pricey for the service (especially for bikers since there is an extra fee for bikes). only go there if you have no other option.. 20 km up the river in litomerice is a way beter camping ground for a fraction of the cost.. would not recommend.

Great location for a bike trip, however - no hot water available during 24 hours of our stay, very limited choice of food...very noisy place at night
