Karlovo nám. 504
N/A
This monument stands in tribute to Jan Evangelista Purkyně, the 19th century Czech physician best known for his research in anatomy and physiology. His legacies include many discoveries in the field of cell biology, physiology as well as founding the first ever Department of Physiology at the University of Breslau on present day Poland. This monument features a larger than life statue of a seated Evangelista. He is depicted in formal attire and dressed as a gentleman of the 19th century. He is learning forward slightly, good right hand raised as of about to make a point. The sculpture is a fine piece of work, realistic and a very dignified presentation of a great scientist. The statue is located far from the main tourist circuit in Karlovo park where there are many fine monuments to other Czech national personalities. The monument is worth a look if visiting the park.

JAN EV. PURKYNĚ - 1787 až 1869. Socha je skvělím dílem.
Krásná socha vědce Jana Evangelisty Purkyně. Kolem jsou lavičky a celkem rozlehlý park na Karlově náměstí.
