(Shoah Memorial Prague) was founded with the purpose of launching the Shoah Memorial at the Bubny Railway Station in Prague, the Czech Republic. The station carries an important historical legacy. It is here that some fifty thousand Czech Jews boarded the transports. This collective story is telling us about events we strive to find the right name for since the end of WW II. It is surprising that Prague doesn't have its exhibition space which could deal with the issue of Jewish transports with dignity and using adequate documentary means and modern language. An important feature of the train station is that, one day, according to the new zoning plan, it should occupy a dignified place in the heart of the future neighbourhood. What looks today as a periphery will be, in a very near future, a modern plaza with its own metro exit, tram stop, large square and remarkable statue. The main theme of the museum are stories of those who had departed to the unknown. However, individual destinies should be part of wider, timeless themes. Antisemitism and its forms in various periods of history, causes of modern-time wars, memory as a relative phenomenon of history, ideologization of the 20th century, propaganda at times of peace and during war, genocides of modern times and their causes. The past reflected in the Memorial should begin with images and stigmas of the present. The mysteries of our time are relevant to everyone as they often mirror unsolved layers of the times past. Inconspicuous details hide great destinies, these form a great portrait of a collective story – a story of Shoah.
