One of the big famous theaters. If you are into big arenas, go there.
Very beautiful, full of history. Accessible by tram.
Amazing staff and a great theatre experience
Once off the top places in town. Usually runs a repertoire on a decent note or less stable level. Not a trendy house by any means. It's biggest star and draw is Dagmar Havlova, the widow of the Czech Nelson Mandela - first post-Velvet Revolution president Vaclav Havel. She is excelling with maturity and is one of those artists whose age works in their favor. She also carries the mantle of her social stature with grace. The house itself could use some financial injection to improve this and that, but does manage to sustain its neo baroqueish splendor. Repertoire aside, it gives an insight into the social habits, tastes, and ways of an average Prague resident, including their 'evening-best' dressing habits, behavior, and theater snacks tradition (to be bemoaned largely, but the traditional 'chlebicky' open-face sandwiches are legendary nevertheless).
Great performance, a bit hot inside (subjective)
Interesting historical building, mostly played in Czech language
Theater itself is beautiful Art Nouveau decor. chandelier, frescoes, reliefs - beauty. but difficult to park the car around, if the car is removed it costs more than 3000 K.
